Unique connection

Our retreats facilitate not only personal connection but spiritual connection with God

Solitude

In solitude we not only meet ourselves, but we find God waiting for us.

Silence

"We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence." - Mother Teresa

Community

Most silent retreats are conducted only as individuals, SGI retreats embeds your silence in connection to community of others.

"Silent retreat is a way to escape the hustle and bustle of life and find yourself, community, and God. The silence allows for a deeply spiritual and transformational experience that will have you walking away a very changed person--provided that you lean into the discipline of remaining silent and undistracted."

Testimonials

A variety of students have participated in the CCU silent retreats since their inception in 2010.  It was started in response to a small group students who asked to follow Dr. Mitsch on one of his personal silent retreats.  Dr. Mitsch had the privilege of being mentored by Brennan Manning, the author of "The Ragamuffin Gospel" along with many other books.  Brennan infused into Dr. Mitsch the vision and importance of silence and solitude as a cornerstone of spiritual vitality and growth.  As a result, it has guided his vision for the development of an undergraduate psychology program at CCU emphasizing heart development, integrity in academic pursuits in psychology, and launching students into psychology and other disciplines who are change agents in whatever arena they function in.

Katelyn Sage

"Silent retreat allowed me to take a good look at myself without the distractions of everyday life. I’ve been multiple times, and each time I’ve learned something about myself that would’ve taken years to learn otherwise if I hadn’t been given the time and silence to notice it. Each time I’ve gone has been life-changing, even if the realizations are seemingly small things."

Cody Adair

The silence allows for a deeply spiritual and transformational experience that will have you walking away a very changed person--provided that you lean into the discipline of remaining silent and undistracted."

Rylee Castleberry

"The silent retreat is a life-changing experience, similar to stepping into the wardrobe and emerging in Narnia. The silence, the community, and the acres of beautiful landscape help to facilitate the difficult but needed transformation when one recognizes the true love and acceptance of God."
